Child-Centered Therapy: A Space for Every Kind of Mind

If you are looking for a place where your child won’t be judged, shamed, or forced to sit still in a chair, you’ve found it. I believe that therapy shouldn't be another place where a child feels they are "failing." Instead, it should be the one hour a week where they are the expert on their own life.

My Approach: Following the Child’s Lead

Traditional therapy often tries to teach children how to "behave" better. My goal is to help children feel better so they can navigate the world with confidence and authenticity. I don't use a rigid curriculum because no two children arrive at my door with the same needs.

Whether your child is neurodivergent, navigating a big life change, or struggling with "big feelings," our work together is always:

  • Affirming: We start from the belief that your child is already whole. We aren't fixing them; we are supporting them.

  • Flexible: Some days we might sit and talk. Other days we might be on the floor building with Legos, drawing out our feelings, or moving around the room. I meet your child’s energy exactly where it is.

  • Empowering: I focus on "tools, not rules." We work on building self-advocacy and emotional intelligence so your child can make choices that feel right for them.

What Therapy Looks Like Here

For a child, "play" is their language and "toys" are their words. By using a mix of play, creative arts, and movement, I help children process things that are often too big or too complex for them to put into spoken words.

  • Play-Based Healing: We use play to explore social dynamics, process trauma, and practice new skills in a low-pressure way.

  • Nervous System Support: I help children understand their "body signals." When they know why their heart is racing or why they feel "shut down," they can begin to use tools to find their way back to a sense of safety.

  • Identity Celebration: We spend a lot of time talking about what makes your child unique. We uplift their interests—whether it’s Minecraft, animals, or space—and use those passions as the foundation for our work.

A Partnership with You

You are the most important person in your child’s life. While the therapy room is a private space for your child to grow, I work closely with you to ensure that the tools we build in session translate to real life at home. I offer a collaborative relationship where we look at the "big picture" of your child’s environment to ensure they are set up to thrive.

"When we change the environment and the support, we change the outcome—without ever having to change the child."
